I received my PhD from the University of Kansas and have taught at the University of the South (Sewanee), Bowdoin College, and the Kansas City Art Institute. My work has been funded by a Fulbright Fellowship, Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship, Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Fellowship, Appalachian College Association Faculty Fellowship, and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship, among others.

I lived in Japan for over three years, and hail from Chicago. I enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing, and a great cocktail.
